Inflation and Consumer Price Index of Sorong Municipality July 2023

In July 2023, Sorong Municipality experienced year on year inflation of 3.24 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 114.48. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Merauke at 5.21 percent with a CPI of 116.10 and the lowest occurred in Gunung Sitoli at 0.50 percent with a CPI of 116.28.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of several expenditure groups, namely: food, beverage and tobacco group by 3.66 percent; clothing and footwear group by 1.01 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.86 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 4.14 percent; health group by 0.41 percent; transportation group by 8.17 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 5.81 percent; education group by 0.45 percent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group by 2.87 percent; and personal care and other services group by 4.70 percent. While the groups that experienced deflation, namely: the information, communication and financial services group by 0.24 percent.

The month to month (mtm) inflation rate for July 2023 was 0.18 percent and the year to date (ytd) inflation rate for July 2023 was 3.18 percent.
