Sorong Municipality Inflation and Consumer Price Index April 2023

Abstract

In April 2023, Sorong Municipality experienced year on year inflation of 4.02 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 112.79. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Kotabaru at 6.75 percent with a CPI of 121.12 and the lowest occurred in Pangkal Pinang at 2.78 percent with a CPI of 114.15. Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index for several expenditure groups, namely: the food, drink and tobacco group by 2.41 percent; clothing and footwear group at 3.77 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group at 1.79 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group at 5.02 percent; health group by 1.90 percent; transportation group by 14.28 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 6.65 percent; education group at 0.45 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 3.12 percent; and the personal care and other services group at 8.14 percent. Meanwhile, the groups experiencing deflation were: and the information, communication and financial services group at 0.51 percent.
