Inflation and Consumer Price Index of Sorong Municipality June 2023

In June 2023, Sorong Municipality experienced year on year inflation of 4.36 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 114.28. The highest yoy inflation occurred in Ambon at 6.10 percent with a CPI of 18.67 and the lowest occurred in Gunung Sitoli at 1.01 percent with a CPI of 114.79.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of several expenditure groups, namely: food, beverage and tobacco group by 5.02 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 1.43 percent; household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group by 4.47 percent; transportation group by 13.44 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 6.03 percent; education group by 0.45 percent; food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 2.98 percent; and personal care and other services group by 4.98 percent. While the groups that experienced deflation, namely: clothing and footwear group by 0.23 percent; health group by 0.51 percent and information, communication and financial services group by 0.27 percent.

The month to month (mtm) inflation rate in June 2023 was 0.73 percent and the year to date (ytd) inflation rate in June 2023 was 3.00 percent.
