Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for Sorong City, Ir. Merry, M.P. accompanied the Mayor of Sorong, Forkopimda of Sorong City, along with the ranks of the Sorong City OPD to carry out price inspections to a number of shopping centers in Sorong City. This is done to ensure that the supply of basic foodstuffs in Sorong City is safely under control.

The location for the TPID team inspection this time was at 3 points, namely the Bone Indah KM9 Groceries Warehouse, Mega Mall, and Remu Market. During the field visit this time it was ensured that the supply of staple foodstuffs in Sorong City was at a stable price and the amount of stock was sufficient to meet the needs of the community.

In the December 2022 inflation release carried out by BPS Kota Sorong on January 2 2023, it was noted that Sorong City's inflation was the lowest in Indonesia. That is 0.01 for month-to-month and 3.26 for year-on-year.
